Real Wedding - Kimberly's & Justin's Winter Wedding

Real Wedding

Finally!! I received pictures from a June wedding.  Karen and her mom came to me in need of flowers for their upcoming wedding.  Karen's mom attended a wedding I was the planner & designer for about 2 years ago and she remembered how much she loved the flowers.  What she remembered the most was the aisle that covered in hundereds of rose petals.

Karen was a young bride that loved color and wanted a more modern look for her wedding.  She loved peonies and insisted on having them for the wedding.  The MOH wanted more traditional wedding flowers and she had a love of casablanca lillies.  So I combined both their styles to create this June wedding. I hope you enjoy it as much I enjoyed creating this beautiful floral design.

The bridesmaids bouquets were pink and limbo(pastel green) roses.

The Bride bouquet was made of pastel pink & green roses with pink peonies and casa blanca lillies.

The centerpieces were a combination of pink peonies, green hydrangeas, pale pink & green roses and white stock flowers to add some height.  I also used green and pink votive candles.

Christmas Weddings Inspiration - The Mistletoe Inspiration

Mistletoe and Christmas go hand and hand.  So for a Christmas inspired wedding, I think this a start for your theme.  Tying all together with red and green will bring in the Christmas element and the misltetoe provides the romance.  Hope you enjoy!!

Christmas Weddings Inspiration - The Mistletoe!!

What better inspiration for a Christmas wedding than the mistletoe?! This tradition brings out the romantic side of Christmas. Kissing under mistletoe is a sweet gesture for the holiday season. And of course, the traditional Christmas colors of red and green are the perfect color palette to execute a romantic Christmas wedding.

Design Tips:
Add the mistletoe image to your stationary to keep a your theme cohesive.
Hang mistletoe wreaths on the entrance to you ceremony and reception doors.
Add mistletoe branches and berries to you floral designs.

Fun ways to use the mistletoe:
Add a mistletoe to a photo booth and capture pictures of your guests as they partake in the tradition.
Instead of the bouquet toss, hang a mistletoe over the couple that has been married the longest and get them to kiss!
Be sure to capture a picture of you and your groom kissing under the mistletoe.

Happy Planning,

New Name, New Blog.... Same Great Planner!

Last year I seriously contemplated changing the name of my company. I wasn’t sure but something was telling me I had to do it. I always received compliments on Couture Events by D but that was after repeating it about 3 times and spelling it out for about 5 minutes over the phone. Thus the reason for the name change. I loved the old name because it included me but then I realized that no matter the name of the company, it will always represent me and what I stand for as a wedding planner and designer. The quality of services I provide my clients will always be the very best. I will still go above and beyond for my clients and most importantly no matter what I love what I do.
Now finding the new name wasn’t easy. I could never think of something that really represented what I wanted it to say. Then enters Michelle Slaughter of HerPresign. She’s the best PR rep I girl could ask for and she came at the right time. She provided me with some suggestions and after brainstorming (while I spent my day at the hair salon) I took her suggestions and found my voice!! After the name was created, I hit the ground running. Now I had to find a new logo design and I turned to the very talented Le’Trice of LePenn Designs. I worked with Le’Trice this past August and I knew when it was time for my makeover I would turn to her. She was absolutely fabulous!!

Wedded Luxe says exactly what I want my clients to feel…. Luxurious! Having luxuries in life are about simply enjoying life’s wonderful treasures. It’s not about spending 100k on your wedding it’s about being able to enjoy every moment of the wedding planning process and every second of your wedding day. This is what I want the wedding planning process to be like for my clients, indulgence and enjoyment. It’s what I’ve always stood for and I will always continue to do so.

With the new name brought new features. I’m now on Twitter so please follow me there for my commentary on my life and behind the scenes of wedding planning. I also started a facebook fan page(coming soon) so don’t’ hesitate to show some love and become a fan. For the New Year you can expect a lot more changes. The new website will make its debut on January1, 2010 so stay tuned. Please visit the Couture Event by D website for information on services in the mean time. There will be some new services to provide more brides with their wedding planning needs. And of course, more great blog postings to inspire and assist brides who are planning their upcoming nuptials!!

Special thank you to Michelle and LeTrice for your help.  It couldn't have been done without you!!

Christmas Weddings

Christmas is my favorite holiday so a Christmas wedding is an absolutely fantasy of mine. There are so many ways to have a Christmas wedding without the traditional colors and designs. Christmas goes beyond green and red colors. Think of all the other wonderful ways you celebrate the holidays. My first Christmas inspiration board is inpired by one my family Christmas Eve tradtions. My grandmother would make homemade hot cocoa and bread. We would sit around the livingroom, watching Christmas movies while we enjoyed her homemade treats. I hope you enjoy the first Christmas inspired inspiration board. Stay tune for more!!

Fall Wedding - Purple

Purple is a color that can be used during any season. For the fall, I suggest a deep shade of purple like eggplant or plum. You can go monochromatic or add accent colors like silver, pink or merlot. Here is my Fall Purple Inspiration Board. I hope you enjoy it!

Fall Wedding Purple Inspiration – Essie’s nail polish

One Sunday I was out doing my usual Sunday routine, gym, grocery store and then a pedicure. It was the first weekend in October so I in the fall mood. When the fall begins my colors of choice begin become darker and richer tones so it was time to leave my pinks behind. As I was in deep thought to make the right choice and found Essie’s Bahama Mama. Love it!! It’s in the eggplant family but one slight shade lighter. This deep purple is a great color for the fall in your wardrobe, nail polish and of course for a fall wedding. Two Words . . . . Jenny Yoo

This past weekend was full of events and I met some amazing people!! One of the biggest treats was meeting Jenny Yoo! I'm a huge fan of Jenny Yoo and when I met her at the Trendspot Couture Show I was like a kid in a candy store. Jenny like her designs was sweet, simple and fun to be around. Her designs are trully a reflection of her. The best thing about Jenny Yoo is her dresses can flatter any woman. The styles will flatter all shapes and sizes and you can also pick dresses with different necklines. This will give a uniform look but also give each bridesmaid their own look.
This dress will be the most popular bridesmaid dress of 2010! The picture doesn't do it justice. It's elegant, sexy and versitile. More importanly, this dress can be worn again. I want it just to have! It's perfect for weddings, cocktail parties or any occasion where a dress like this is needed.

Here were some of my favorites!!

Thank you to Jenny Yoo and Sandra Usherov the Director of Showroom/ Wholesale Operation for showing me the collection.

Fall Wedding Inspiration - Yellow, Brown & Gold

Recently I was up early and the cool fall breeze hit me harder than my wardrobe allowed. So thinking on my feet, I found a street vendor that sold pashmina scarves for $5.00!! I’m sure it’s not the real thing but it did the job and the color complimented my outfit of the day. I love the mustard yellow scarf so much it gave me some wedding color inspiration. Yellow is a great color for the fall and a mix of espresso and gold will make for a elegant spin on the traditional fall wedding colors. This just goes to show you that you can find your wedding inspiration any where! Enjoy!!

Wedding Favors

One of the biggest dilemmas couples has when planning their wedding is what favor they should choose for their guest. These days, most couples do not go the traditional route and go with a favor that is unique to their personality. I always tell me my clients give something usable or edible. Figurine, wine stoppers or scented candles just don’t cut it these days. Being a foodie myself, I would prefer to an edible favor so when I saw these favors on The Knot I just had to share. This couple gave each of their guests a Krispy Crème Donut with a note that read “sweet dreams”. How cute is that?! Your guests are sure to enjoy a sweet treat on the way home!!

Sarah & Stephen - More Great Photos

Here are more pictures from our contest winners Sarah & Stephen.

Sarah purchase these cute vases at Ikea and then added the blue & white ribbon
This was a fun group shot taken in the middle of the dance floor

A romantic shot of the happy couple

This was a fun and spontaneous shot taken when the couple received the first look of the vietnese hour. It was my idea to use the whip cream, how cute!!

Sarah brought her own umbrellas for props to take pictures. Great touch!

Sarah & Stephen used their engagement photo in very creative ways.
Here is their photo displayed near the escort cards

They made a map of the guest tables using photoshop

Here's another great engagement photo again they used photoshop to add some creative touches

Sarah used Visitprint and had their photo made into an 11x14 banner

Another great DIY project by Sarah & Stephen. They made their own programs with the postal design.

Thanks again Vanessa Joy for the great photos!!

Wedding Day Love: Sarah & Stephen

Sarah & Stephen were the winners of the Couture Package giveaway. They tied the knot on August 29th at The Tides Esate in New Jersey. It was a rainy day but it was still a wonderful wedding.

Sarah was a determined to stay within her budget and she did a great job and made very good decisions. There were a lot of DIY projects that she took on and they all turned out great. Every aspect of the wedding tied into their travel theme and color scheme of magenta and aqua. They named all the tables after countries they have visited with a story of their travels and the cutest part was their table name was South Africa where they would be going on the honeymoon. They used pictures of landmarks and used photoshop to add their engagement photos to the picture. The guests were given aqua luggage tags and they followed a map designed by one of Sarah’s friends to their table.

My favorite part of the wedding was the entertainment. Sarah’s sister and her dance partner did a salsa dance that was like watching dancing with the stars!! It was so well done!! Sarah’s dance with her father started with a touching song by Kenny Rogers and half way through the DJ changed to an upbeat salsa song. The guests were so surprised not to have the traditional dance. The final performance was a tribute to Michael Jackson that Sarah and some of friends did. They happen to get married on MJ’s birthday so they put together a short dance routine to “Beat It’. It was great!! They even had sequence gloves to wear.

No wedding is complete without great vendors!!

Thank you to the wonderful staff at The Tides Estate. Everything was great and your services were impeccable!!

A very big thank you to VanessaJoy Photography for sharing these beautiful pictures with me and for the great compliment!! You were so professional and so much fun to work with it!!
Entertainment - Sumar Entertainment- you guys kept the party going!!
Floral Designs - S & K Floral Expressions - Sarah's bouquet was gorgeous!
Sarah & Stephen, I had so much fun working with you two. I’m so glad you were the contest winners because you rock!! Clients like you make me grateful for my job. I wish you the best of luck and all the happiness in the world!!
Congratulation and best of luck,

Bridal Party Gifts

Every client I work with seems to stumble when it comes to finding the right gifts for their bridal party. Most couples want to try something different from the traditional bridal party gifts but they aren’t sure what would be a great gift. I always say practical and useful is the way to go. Also they don’t all have to have the same gift. They have different personalities so why not get them each a gift they would each appreciate. Here are some suggestions just to get you started.

The Music Lover
Everyone has an IPod these days so why not help then accessorize their IPod or an ITunes gift card.

The Coffee Drinker
If you have a friend that can’t live without their morning cup of Joe then they would appreciate a gift card from Starbucks or their favorite coffee place.

A Little Pampering
For the bridal party member that enjoys a mani and pedi then a they would appreciate a gift card to a luxurious spa.

The Movie Lover
If you have a friend that goes to the movies for every opening then a night out on you will be what they need after being a part of your wedding.

Keep in mind that these gifts will probably run you the same amount as the traditional wedding gift so don’t worry about the cost. Just remember how much they have done for you during your wedding planning process.

Wedding Shoes

Ok I’m a shoe girl and love my heels but sometimes I really appreciate a nice pair of flats. So when I saw these gorgeous flats in a European wedding magazine I just had to find out who the designer was. These are the most fabulous pair of flat shoes I’ve ever seen. Not only will you be able to dance the night away but you will be fabulous while doing it.

New Wedding Colors: Turquoise and Red

I was reading one my favorite wedding magazines Brides New York and I enjoying the article “State of the Union” when I realized I blogged about this new wedding trend. Turquoise and Red is the new wedding trend for the upcoming wedding season. Crimson and Blue was choice but it’s in the same family so close enough, lol! In all seriousness this is a great combination that is elegant and modern.

Here was my inspiration board on the new wedding trend!!
